It all started on the island of El Hierro when I was just a kid and from a very early age I learned to use goggles, a snorkel and fins. Little by little we explored the wild coast of the northeast, further and further, deeper and deeper, always seeing a little more, more species, more underwater lava landscapes and caves full of surprises, more excitement about what we would find this time, more mystery about what we could discover. That way of living in such close contact with the sea made me value it and enjoy it a lot throughout my life, showing it to my friends whenever I could, taking them to my favorite places, where there were more fish and the most beautiful landscapes.

With this philosophy, Snorkel El Hierro was born: to do the same thing as with my friends, but to offer it and share it with visitors who want to experience a safe snorkeling trip in the sea full of countless gratifying sensations.

Services

Armando del Rosario is a native of El Hierro and a marine biologist. He has worked on countless marine research campaigns throughout the Canary Islands and islets, including the Chinijo Archipelago. His latest scientific campaign was carried out in the Galapagos Islands, studying the populations of different types of sharks: hammerheads, blacktips, whitetips, Galapagos, silky, tigers and whales.

He is also the author of the book Guide to Marine Fauna of the Canary Islands (Fish, whales, dolphins and turtles).

Snorkeling is always done in places where the sea allows it and our first choice is always the trips in the northeast of the island, since there is greater productivity for the fauna and therefore the abundance and diversity of fish is greater in the north of the island. If the sea is rough in the northeast, then we snorkel in the sea of Las Calmas, located in the southwest of the island.

The trips are for all levels, we adapt to both children and adults of all ages, and both for beginners to whom we teach how to use the equipment in the water, and for professional freedivers whom we take to deeper areas.

Snorkeling: The route without snorkeling equipment is 25 euros per person. With snorkeling equipment included it is 35 euros and is 2 hours in the water.

SURFACE or snorkeling diving routes

For sea enthusiasts, our snorkelling sessions will allow you to explore the most hidden and fascinating corners of the sea. Guided by local experts, you will discover caves, reefs and a unique biodiversity that makes El Hierro a paradise for sea lovers. First we give an explanation with images of the fish we can see and then we take a 2-hour route in the water.
